Bible Studying: Psalm 23:1-6.

Textual content: John 10:14 KJV

“I’m the nice shepherd, and know my sheep, and am recognized of mine.”

Who’s your shepherd? A shepherd is one who takes care of sheep. God is the final word shepherd of all of us. Jesus is the shepherd that God despatched and He has this to say in John 10:11 KJV

“I’m the nice shepherd: the nice shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”

It means there’s a dangerous shepherd for Jesus to qualify His shepherdhood as the nice one.

Relating this subject to our earlier dialogue on the person as the pinnacle of the household, he’s the shepherd of the family. He must be a superb shepherd. The dangerous shepherd is likened to a hireling. Who’s a hireling? He’s only a labourer, employed to handle the sheep for a charge – wages.

In response to John 10:12, he’s not prepared to position himself in peril of defending the sheep. He’ll run away when the sheep is in peril or underneath menace of any type.

The person as head of the household is the shepherd and must be prepared to put down his life as a superb shepherd whilst Jesus Christ laid down His life for the church (Eph 5:23-25). As the nice shepherd, he ought to have an in depth, caring relationship with the sheep (family underneath his care).

In the identical vein, the Pastor of a church is the shepherd of the religious sheep underneath his care too. What are their tasks (the pinnacle of the household and the pastor)?
